Vashon Market IGA today announced that effective Saturday, September 29, 2012 the business will be owned and operated by longtime Vashon Island residents Shawn and Kathy Hoffman. In conjunction with the change in ownership, the store will also be changing its name to "Vashon Market Fresh IGA."
The Hoffmans have owned the property and shopping complex where the store is located for the past seven years. Shawn grew up in the community, attended Vashon High School and after earning his college degree returned to Vashon with his wife Kathy to raise their family. Shawn also is currently an assistant basketball coach at Vashon High School.
Hoffman said, "We care deeply about the growth and success of our community and want Vashon Market Fresh IGA to be a thriving business and great place to shop. Over the coming months, we plan to leverage the power of IGA and our new wholesale supplier relationship with Unified Grocers to provide our customers a more robust shopping experience and greater overall value."
In addition to making improvements in every department and giving the store a fresh new look, Vashon Market Fresh IGA will increase its product selection, including the addition of more than 215 exclusive IGA private label brand products. For more than 80 years, the IGA Red Oval product line has provided shoppers an attractive alternative to the national brands with quality and value that they can always trust.
As part of the store’s ongoing development process, a new Vashon Market Fresh IGA advertising flyer will be sent to the community each week beginning Wednesday, October 31, 2012. The ad will also be posted on the stores website www.vashonmarket.iga.com along with special online offers. Vashon Market Fresh IGA plans to host a grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting after the first of the year.
