Vashon Chamber Music is excited to present its tenth anniversary season this spring. Three Monday night concerts will take place on March 4, 25 and April 22 featuring fine Pacific Northwest musicians.
The first concert on March 4 will be at Vashon Center for the Arts and is entitled Cello Virtuosity III. It will be the third year in a row that Seattle Symphony Principal Cellist has come to Vashon to play a recital. He will be performing again with Jessica Choe on piano for the Romantic masterpiece, the Cesar Franck Sonata in A major. On the second half the new concertmaster of the Seattle Symphony, Noah Geller, will join them for Brahms’ Trio in C major for violin, cello and piano.
On March 25th we welcome three musicians from the Portland area. Violinist Sarah Kwak is Concertmaster of the Oregon Symphony, Vali Phillips is violinist/violist with the Oregon Symphony and pianist Cary Lewis is a pianist/chamber musician extraordinaire. Rowena Hammill will join them on cello for the magnificent Brahms Piano Quartet in A major. Other works by Beethoven and Ravel will round out the program. This concert is also at VCA.
Finally on April 22nd the Girsky Quartet returns to the Vashon Methodist Church for a program of Hungarian music. Quartets by Bartok and Kodaly will be featured, as well as Bartok folksong arrangements sung by Vashon soprano Holly Boaz.
All concerts are at 7:30pm. Tickets for the VCA concerts are available at vashoncenterforthearts.org or call (206) 463-5131. Tickets for the April 22 concert are available at brownpapertickets.org or at the door. Tickets are $25 – General/$20 – Senior/$10 -18 and under.
