Island Points Community Acupuncture is open on Tuesdays 11:00-5:00 at Studio Lux, an easy uptown location between Subway and James Hair Design. In a community acupuncture clinic everyone is treated individually yet resting together in the same room. There is soothing music playing. Talking is done in whispers and is brief. You may notice a group “energy field” that becomes part of the healing atmosphere. The pricing is structured with a sliding scale so you can decide what to pay, from $20 to $40, no questions asked.
Acupuncture works best in a series of treatments. We’ll figure out together what will work best for you and adjust as needed. More clinic hours will be added with the goal of daytime and evening shifts available to accommodate many schedules in order to provide people as much acupuncture as they need or want. Look for regular monthly specials.
Acupuncture works in ways that medical science does not yet fully understand but there is plenty of clinical evidence that it helps many people feel better. Perhaps the interstitium, a “new” organ recently discovered by scientists, is one of the ways acupuncture has an effect on the body and mind. Read about it in National Geographic.
Laurel is a member of the People’s Organization of Community Acupuncture (POCA), a multi-stakeholder cooperative formed for the purpose of supporting and promoting community acupuncture clinics, practitioners, patients, friends, and volunteers in the United States and worldwide.
