In July issue’s “With Wand and Shawl: the Investiture of Vashon’s New Co-Poets Laureate,” we welcomed Iris Spring and C. Hunter Davis into this shared role. The Loop is delighted to print this poem by Iris Dawn Spring.
For a Friend Sometimes I think if you. I wonder, do you think of me too? Don’t think that I’ve forgotten you, did you? One time I promised you, we would always see it through. I never thought I’d break my promises to you. promises, oh promises promises, oh promises I never thought I’d break my promises to you. At times I dream of you, and it feels just like it used to be. And when I wake I am so glad to have seen you. I miss you. I’ll always remember when you were my best friend. It’s so sad and sweet to reminisce of then, and you. reminisce oh reminisce reminisce oh reminisce It’s so sad and sweet to reminisce of then, and you. ~ Iris Dawn Spring, Vashon Poet Laureate Iris is a born and raised, multi-generational Vashon Islander.
