“Grief Age Love” is a new anthology written by over 30 Vashon poets, and edited by Jeanie Okimoto. This month we conclude our spotlight on this work with “Looking” by Jessika Satori. Thank you to Jeanie Okimoto and to the poets for sharing your poetry with Loop readers!
Looking
Looking over my blue denim’d shoulder
My conclusion is:
I have stayed in too many places for far too long.
This applies to:
the slurry of sour relationships
funky financial promises
shady deals by devious ne’er-do-wells.
Yet,
there have been times of
supple sweetness:
The mountains climbed when
everyone said I couldn’t–or shouldn’t.
Holding families close when a loved one
lay dying.
